Abstract

Although the use of pesticide holds the balance in agriculture, pesticide administrated conventionally is easy to be washed out and decomposed in natural conditions and, therefore, causes a big waste of both the pesticide and labor, as well as the pollution to the environment. To improve that, self-prepared porous hollow silica nanoparticles (PHSNs) were used to load avermectin by means of supercritical fluid drug loading method. The effects of various cosolvents on the drug loading amount of PHSNs were investigated. The release behaviors of the loaded avermectin in different dissolving medium were also explored. In addition, we also studied the various conditions of drug loading by starch. It was found that more avermectin would be loaded on PHSNs if a cosolvent with stronger polarity was used. In addition, to achieve the maximum drug loading, a proper amount of cosolvent was required. Therefore, choosing the type and amount of cosolvent is a key factor for the process of supercritical fluid drug loading. Release rates of the loaded avermectin varied in different dissolving media, and different concentrations of the same dissolving medium would cause different release speeds, which is very important in the study of sustained drug release. In addition, the drug loaded by starch showed a well sustained release pattern as well.
