Abstract

In this paper, mass transfer efficiencies for wave-directed floating valve were studied in hot mold equipment. The effect of hole area percent, F-factor, outlet weir heigh, and other factors on Murphree Effciencies were researched. The mass transfer experiments were conducted in a stainless plate tower with the height of 0.4m and diameter of 0.75 by using cyclohexane and n-heptane as research media under the condition of atmospheric pressure and total reflux. The results showed that the mass transfer efficiency increased with the increasement of F-factor.The efficiency of the third tray in the tower can typically represent the actual mass transfer situation of the tower. When the vapor-liquid contacting regime was bubbling, the outlet height had a greater impact on the efficiency than that of the spray regime. When thetemperature of the reflux is about 85℃, the tray efficiency of the second tray is 10% higher than that of 65℃.The interior reflux induced by heat loss in tower is 5%. The efficiencies of the wave directed floating valve tray were higher than those of combined directed floating valve tray, sieve tray and F1 floating valve tray. The comparison of experimental data and calculated value showed that for the same point efficiency, different correlation should be selected to calculate Murphree tray efficiency according to the magnitude of F-factor, the deviation between experiment and calculation was less than 10%.
