Abstract


In power industry of China, coal-fired thermal power generating units occupy the leading position of power supply. Relating to the safety of property, the safe operation of boiler equipment is all concerned by the large-scale enterprises. This is because the boilers are huge and during the process of coal burning in its internal combustion, improper operation leads to instability of coal burner flame. Without detecting such a situation and continuing putting in burner powder, the furnace will be accumulate large amounts of untreated combustion of fuel which mixed with air. Then any slight of fire will light the mixture and add the pressure in furnace which may cause explosion or deflagration. This will be a serious threat to the security of furnaces and equipment. Therefore, in order to ensure safety in production, it is necessary not only to monitor the flame state inside the whole furnace, but also to detect the combustion state of each single burner.The DSP based system aims to to detect the state of the burner. In this dissertation, a flame detection system based on DSP has been developed. In the system, the DSP based technology is used as the basic desktop for flame image acquisition. Further more, the data exchange has been realized through the serial port between the DSP chip and a PC-based computer, speeding up the data processing for efficient flame detection. Then the article analyses the existing boiler flame detection algorithms, and with the help of the Nanchang Longyuan Combustion and Control Co., Ltd. which provide combustion of pulverized coal boiler burner flame test data, we propose a novel boiler flame detection algorithm based on minimum distance classifier using absolute brightness difference and gradient values. The experiment was test on coal power burner. The experimental results indicate that the algorithm is concise, efficient and of high speed, the state of burner being able to be detected effectively with the proposed algorithm. Compared to the gradient method and absolute brightness difference method, the minimum distance classifier algorithm has higher recognition accuracy. We use Visual C++ 6.0 under Microsoft Windows XP as compiling software,and use Code Composer Studio (6000) to compile DSP software.
