Abstract


Effective software project management is vital for a successful software development project and one of its important components is cost management.The purpose of software project management is to ensure the completion of the project objectives through careful planning and managing of various factors like cost,people,time,quality,risks,etc.In order to improve the efficiency and optimize the outcome,it is necessary to find the best solutions of time and cost while meeting the quality standards.In this case,a thorough study of software cost management before and during the development process is crucial to any software project.Software cost estimation, as the basis of the relevant economic issues during the Processes of the software project development and implementation, is the most Challenging and important activity of the project management. As the core areas of software engineering, software cost estimation caused researcher’s attention, has emerged construction cost model, function point method, and their advanced models.At Present, as the development of domestic software project application into the universal stage, the evaluation went into the chaos with increasingly fierce price war. As an application, software project application software has many Characteristics of its own. Firstly, this paper introduced the concept of software project software, as well as a summary of its software features. Then the paper gave an analysis, research and comparison of the current existing software cost estimation methods; Pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of each method; determined design ideas of the model on the basis of them, adopted a highly efficient and practical, realistic and feasible cost estimation software method:took a research on the algorithm model by the theory and practical application respectively; Put the algorithm into Practical applications, gave a design of the estimation tool.The thesis,written from a project manager’s perspective,discusses the definition and characteristics of software project cost management.It investigates some commonly used cost management approaches like using cost estimation models such as COCOMO, CMM and other cost management systems,and analyzes the methods,features and limitations of the present systems.Based on the investigation and analysis,the author conducts an exploratory study on the project cost management process of a Online examination and approval project and provides suggestions on cost management of similar software projects.
