Abstract

Recently, in order to implement the strategy of sustainable development, the green carried out is a new research prospect in the research, development, production and application of water treatment agent in the 21st century. Modified corn starch are classified as environmental friendly water treatment agent due to the characteristics of its widely range, inexpensive, non-toxic and biodegradable, etc.. It also showed a good application prospects in oil mining and paper industries water treatment. We used starch as raw materials, eplchlorlhydrin as the corss-linking agent to make modified starch. Then the starch and corss-linked starch were treated with Chloroacetic acid and Maleic acid to modified the anionic starch, and after the graft copolymerization, cationic again. Then we can got a series of modified starch The viscosity and grafting ratio of the new products were measured and so on. We also used IR and chemical method to analyze the structure and composition of modified starch. and determine the conditions of the modified reaction. The flocculation properties of modified starch toward the water of kaolin and oil water were also studied to determine the good products which have good flocculation performance and its using conditions. We also used the products which have small solubility to adsorb Cr(Ⅵ). The main conclusions were as following:(1) The properties of the modified starch were changed. The cross-linked starch has a certain degree; after carboxylation, the carboxylation degree was greater than carboxylation starch; the carboxylation degree of CCS was greater than CMS; after grafting, the solubility became smaller; the grafting ration showed the laws that: CMGS>CGS>GS>MGS>CCGS. All the grafting-amination starches were liquid. The viscosity was changed when the grafting ratio and the cross-liking degree changed.(2) We used IR to analyze the structure of the solid products and determined the existence of the functional groups.(3) When the products were used to treat the water of kaolin without PAM, the flocculating activity showed the laws that: GMS>CMGMS>CGMS>PAM, the flocculating activity of other products were all smaller than PAM. As the PAM used, the flocculating activity of MGMS was improved obviously and the highest flocculating ratio was 88%.(4) When the products were used to treat the oil water without PAM, the flocculating ratio was about 50%. The flocculating activity showed the laws that: CGMS>PAM>Cross-linking Starch>CMGMS. The flocculating activity of other products was all smaller than 45%. As the PAM used, the flocculating activity of GS, CCGS, MS, CCS, CGS, CMS, MGS, CCGMS and CMGMS were all improved. The flocculating ratio of the products was all increased to above 60%.(5) The solubility of GS, MS, CGS, MGS, CCS, CCGS and CMGS was very small. The adsorption percentage of different adsorbent were all about 50%-80%, and the percentage was changed by the properties of the modified starch. MS was ionic starch, so its adsorption was the smallest. Others were amphoteric starch, then using these products to adsorb Cr(Ⅵ). The percentage of the adsorption showed the laws that: GS>CMGS>CCS>CCGS>CGS>MGS>MS.
