Brushless DC motor not only has the merits usually with AC motor such as simple structure, reliable operation and easy maintenance, but also inherits merits of DC motor such as high running efficiency, without loss of excitation, good speed performance and other characteristics.As a result, it is widely used in fields such as aerospace, robotics, CNC machine, medical equipment, instrumentation, computer drives and high-end home appliances. With the development of control technology and reducing manufacturing costs, in many applications it will gradually replace other types of motors.A speed control system of BLDCM based on the control core DSC(dsPIC)for the purpose of using the system in thermal printer is designed in this paper. And a test is also performed for the whole BLDC motor contorl system at last.First of all, analysis of the current state and further trend of BLDCM research both home and abroad is given out in this paper. Then the composition, operation principle and control methods of the BLDC motor are studied and a control scheme using two close-loop control method based on the processing core dsPIC which is designed dedicately for motor control is proposed. This scheme benefits simple structure, and can fufill the design requests.The next part of this paper focuses on the design of hardware and software and some relative key technologies of the BLDC motor control system. About the hardware design, the paper detailed the composition of the control system and the design of key modules (such as man-machine interface module, the shaft location signal processing circuit, the current detection circuit, and fault protection circuit and so on). About part of software design, the paper also describes the design idea and realization way of key parts in detail.At last, experiments for the whole BLDC motor control system are carried out. And analysis for the experimental results is also given out. A summary of the whole project and suggestions on future work are made at last in the thesis.
