Abstract


Engineering drawing is one of the basic courses of engineering department in university. With the enlarging market demands and the developing of information technology, this course is now facing a lot of challenges. This report is concluded and conjugated from a long-term teaching experience. Using professional software "Solid Works" for designing three dimensional graphics, expressing an abstract engineering drawing with digital 3D moulds for developing the ability of imaginable thinking of students, and improving teaching efficiency will be fully explained in the following essay. Digital 3D moulds and a specific tool for multi-view have been invented by combining the study through teaching and a big amount of real 3D objects that had been gathered, and fusing the digital 3D moulds with the system of teaching engineering drawing. This tool has the highlights to be useful and easy to maintain.In this research paper, a method of using "SolidWorks"3D designing software to convert the huge amount of contents from exercises and examples into digital 3D moulds, and after, convert the format into 3DS by using 3DS Max software will be talked about. And using "Visual Studio C++" combine with "OpenGL" for developing the graphic application under editing programs fulfills the tasks of loading and displaying 3DS files, as well as the geometric transformation of 3D moulds. This method had been proved through teaching. It is a positive try for combining the traditional basic engineering courses with new technologies which enriches the contents and methods of Engineering Drawing teaching.
