With the development of scientific computing visualization, the Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery System(CAOSS) has been gradually applied to the orthopaedic disease diagnosis and surgery. Doctors can use the CAOSS to roam the 3D reconstruction image that is by using the patient’s image data of the patients’surgical site, thus they can have a clear understanding of the anatomical structure of the surgical site and the vicinity range to have the effective surgical planning; Doctors can also make the simulation operation in the 3D reconstruction images surgery to ensure the correctness of the operation program; During the process of implementing the surgery, doctors can observe the position of the surgical instruments in patients’human tissue and the tissues information surrounding surgical instruments to ensure the safe of the surgery.Hip replacement surgery is a common orthopedic surgery that is highly difficulty and patients suffer from a lot pain. What’s doctors most seriously need is how to accurately measure the datas,such as the shape and size of the acetabulum,femoral and the top rake of the acetabulum and neck of the femur before the surgery.Currently most of the clinical CAOS system are developed based on finite element theory, and doctors use it quite difficulty, so it has the important practical significance to develop a set of CAOS system of perfect function and simplicity of operation.This paper’s main work embodies in:1. It based on the visible man data and it carefully analyzes the hip image characteristics.It based on the SOM neural network and realizes the segmentation of hip image.2. It analyzes the VTK class library and the visible operation mechanism of that library and the mixing programming methods of the VTK and MFC.3. It uses the Marching Cubes Surface Rendering method to realize the visualization of the hip based on VTK class library. The system has the function of roaming, cutting in any direction and so on. The system has some practical value.
