Abstract


As a Chinese philosopher, during the 1930’s to 1940’s,Feng Youlan constructed a system of New Neo-Confucianism philosophy to respond to the age problems of the Chinese and the western culture conflict.He took a milder attitude to the conflict of the scientific rationality and humanistic spirit,trying to unite to them and to realize the "Transforming Knowledge into Wisdom" in the New Neo-Confucianism. New Neo-Confucianism,as a kind of generalized philosophy, has a complete formal system and pays attention to the life . People can improve themselves by studying New Neo-Confucianism .However, its system has two fractures: one is a fracture between metaphysics and materialism, another is a deviation from noumenon and realm . This theory contradictory has been completely shown from New Neo-Confucianism’s "Qi" category,and because of the problems of the definition of "Qi" category and its utilization , which deepened contradictory of New Neo-Confucianism theory system.From the theory origin, Feng Youlan ,by comparing Chinese philosophy and Western philosophy,used the logical analytic method to explain "Qi" category after Cheng Zhu Neo-Confucianism. At that time,he was taken "form - material" pattern influence and accepted the standpoint of Neo-realism .In New Neo-Confucianism system,on the one hand,"Qi" category is playing a very important role.It took as " material" to connect metaphysics with materialism, as "Qi-bing" to connect noumenon with realm.It makes up for the incompetence of "Li" in the construction of New Neo-Confucianism system.On the other hand,because of the contradictory of the definition of "Qi" category and its utilization of the deviation,it makes the fracture between metaphysics and materialism and the deviation from noumenon and realm,and it deepens the conflict of New Neo-Confucianism system. Comparing with "Neng" from Tao Theory by JinYuelin, New Neo-Confucianism’s "Qi" category shows that its logical hypothesis is lacking in the self sufficient activity and the inconsistency about definitions and utilization.Above-mentioned reasons of the problems,is mainly that FengYoulan stood on the standpoint of Neo-realism to advocate that Li Deviates from "Qi" and "Li" is the first of them in the logic,and to emphasize the logic analysis,and only to make the affirmation of the form.Its logical hypothesis is lacking in the self sufficient activity and the inconsistency about utilization,because it has not enough awareness about the mode of thinking of Chinese philosophy "Dialectic and Initiative",it deepens the conflict of New Neo-Confucianism system.Except that, it has deeper age reason which is the conflict of scientific rationality and humanistic spirit. The contradictory of New Neo-Confucianism theory system not only have demonstration effects to reconstruction of Chinese traditional philosophy nowadays,it is how to realize the unification of both national characteristics and features of times of Chinese philosophy, but also leaves some problems beyond our knowledge. Does metaphysical reality exist or not? If she is being, how can we get her?
