Abstract


With the development of information society and the diversification of users’requirements, on one hand, users can quickly access the information through internet. On the other hand, users’demand and information behavior vary from interest、work and age, which means users’demand for information become more personalized. This trend will bring new opportunities and challenges to the management of information service (MIS) of university libraries in Guangzhou. How to counter these opportunities and challenges, innovate the MIS, provide the high-quality information resources to the users, improve the level of MIS, is the essentials of development of university libraries in Guangzhou. To research the innovation management of information service of university libraries in Guangzhou, can deepen the theory level of MIS, improve the innovation ability of MIS. In addition, it will also promote the library’s status in the university and meet the users’information demand better.This thesis discusses innovative MIS of university libraries in Guangzhou. From the staring of the actual situation of library in Guangzhou’s universities, this research combining Literature Survey Method, System Analysis Method, Comparative Analysis Method and Website Survey Method to give a detail discourse.Four parts are divided in the thesis. The first part describes the theoretical and practical significance of this research, by means of analysis of the researching background and the reviewed papers about international researches. The following part gives a specific analysis of the current situation and problems of university libraries in Guangzhou. Status of MIS of university libraries in Guangzhou is also discussed. The third part deeply argues the necessary of innovation in university libraries in Guangzhou’s MIS, combining the strategies and means for adaption to the changing situation, developing status of high education, elevating social services, requirements of users and demands of university libraries in Guangzhou’s development. Finally, the certain principles for operation of university libraries in Guangzhou are declaimed. The concepts, manage system, mechanism and manage method of MIS are consulted, combining the means of human resources management.The innovation of MIS of university libraries in Guangzhou is not for seeking short-term use of library information resources and simple growth of economic only. Besides the benefits above, it helps to assess users’ requirements and provide better services, and realize long-term development of the library. For the reason above, innovation of MIS of university libraries in Guangzhou belongs to system Engineering, and researched around this issue makes a good practical guidance for MIS.
