Abstract


Geographic Markup Language (GML) that publishied by the Open Geospatial Consortium for the geo information coding based on the XML specificton, it independenced with any software platform and company. At the same time, they provide a frame for the geo spatial and non-spatial feature to model, transmit and store these data. It was a good way to share and interoperate geo data. As we know, GML extented from the XML, so any technology or feature of the XML can straight used for GML, such as based on document,extendable,self- describation and so on.At present,GML specification became the fact standard to code and transmit on the internet, so there should bring up large of GML document data . All this take us a series of problem, such as how to mange and operate this massive document easy, efficiency to queey this useful spatial information according to the index and how to index. Use database to manage mass data is the best method at present, according to different data molding and coding there have two kind of database, the one is the traditional RDBMS or Orient-DBMS, another is Native GML Database (NGD) which is main study on in this paper.NGD extended from NXD (Native XML Database) used to manage the GML document specific.we could adopt this XML technology for the GML spatial data because it extened from XML specification. However, GML specification has theirself’s feature so we should to add some technology to manage this spatial data, such as storage, indexing and query. There are differenc just like as information system and geo information system, the same to like with database and geo database. All this we just to use xml technology to store, index, query efficiently very difficulty. Therefore, we should study on the gml relation technology to promote the efficiency for the GML database.In this paper, we just to study and analyzed about the GML specifaciton, the future of GML spatial data, storage and indexing of the native gml database. Base on this, designed the frame work for the native gml databse, used native xml database---eXist database system that open the code for the developer and eclipse’s swing platform with the Java language make the native gml database become true. We just make two modules become true which are the storage and indexing. Base on this study, proposed to storage this gml spatial data by the schema cluster mechanism and to indexing the gml document node by the numbering coding base on above paragraphs storage method.
