Abstract


Regression testing software life cycle as an integral part of the software testing process in the whole account for a large proportion of the workload, software development would conduct regression testing. In the progressive and rapid iterative development, continuous release of new versions of the regression tests more frequently, but in XP and other agile methods, it is required every day for several regression testing. Thus, through the implementation of automated testing to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of regression testing is very meaningful. QuickTest Professional (referred QTP) is currently very popular an automated testing tool. Testers can view using the script to the performance of keywords each step of the test, but also through the integrated QTP recording capability to capture test steps. But only using a test recording and playback tools to complete automated testing is flawed. Because these tests are randomly created, their functionality is difficult to track and reproduce, maintenance cost is huge, and even lead to failure of the implementation of automation. Automated testing is not a tool, an automated test script language can be achieved. The introduction of automated testing framework to automate testing is a very important factor. The main research work is based on a set of development tools QTP suitable for automated regression testing software testing framework. We first analyzed the software regression testing duplication of work, and its design is based automated testing framework identifying the structure. Then study proposes a framework for test data management methods and test scripts, and test batch script execution method, and achieve a batch execution drives. Then design and implementation of a framework for a series of public functions and business components, such as exception handling functions and file manipulation functions and so on. Finally developed in the framework of automatic test report generation tool to generate the overall test reports and detailed test report. Under this framework, testers by calling the same exception handler, start testing, and end the test business component, you can easily complete each test will be repeated in the general steps. In addition, the use of the framework, all test data and test scripts according to uniform standards stored in the specified directory version control tools, test scripts administrators can flexibly execute test scripts by lot, in the middle process without supervision, detailed test report after running all the scripts can be generated automatically. And compared to the existing regression testing tool, this framework has the following characteristics: a) designed public library, batch execution drivers, and utilities business component; 2) proposed framework QTP test scripts and test data management methods ; 3) proposed QTP test script execution method; 4) of Excel QTP automatically generated test report. The framework and other projects in HP Watson regression testing was carried out practical application, practice shows that it enhances the automation scripts functionality and maintainability, improve programming efficiency testers, effective conservation of regression testing costs.
