Abstract

Photonic crystal fiber gratings (PCFG), as a new type of technology products developedin recent years, has attracted more and more attentions due to its excellent properties and wideapplications in optics communications. In this thesis, we have discussed mainly the ingredients, structural characteristics, properties and growth mechanism of PCFG, which is helpful to furtherunderstand the social value of this technology product. The main work of our paper can be divided into the following sections:(1) We present the structural characteristics, calculation method, properties and productionmethod of photonic crystals (PC). As a result of the periodic arrangement of dielectric constant inPC, the photons in PC give rise to photonic band gap (PBG) as that electrons in periodic potentialfield generate electronic band. The existence of PBG will further promote the development of theelectronic age into photonic age.(2) We introduce the principle, properties and production method of photonic crystal fiber(PCF). Its excellent properties such as endlessly single-mode and controllable dispersion attractbring the innovation to modern communication.(3) According to Maxwell equations, we derive the coupling equations in fiber gratings, andcalculate the transmission and re?ection spectrum in fiber-Bragg-grating. Which help us realizethe optical transmission principle and pave the way for the introduction of PCFG.(4) We analyze the PCFG theoretically. From the structure of PCFG we can realize thatPCFG can be analyzed through the analysis of cladding and core independently.(5) The experiment of the first PCFG is introduced, along with some experiment aboutfabricating it.
