Abstract


Manufacturing industry has a lofty position in China’s national economy, and the development of manufacturing industry represents the country’s comprehensive strength. As the technique of production advances, the lifecycle of product decreases; the habit of society consumption changes because of the demand of individual products; therefore Multi-Product/Small-Batch production becomes popular in manufacturing industry. While most manufacturing enterprises in China lack the techniques of production management, the Multi-Product/Small-Batch production claims a more developed production planning and control system.This paper starts with the principle of production planning, analyses the key procedures of Material Requirements Planning and Manufacturing Resources Planning, studies the JIT and TOC theory and finally develops a production planning and control system which is suitable for Multi-Product/Small-Batch production. This system is based on computer technology, and it has basic functions including material management, BOM, workcenter management, procedure management, task management and manufacture management; implements the algorithm of Master Production Schedule, the algorithm of Material Requirements Planning and the algorithm of Capacity Requirements Planning.This paper presents new some concepts for production planning and control methods. Based on the operational research and project management, this paper presents a strategy of production scheduling optimation based on minimum variance; it also presents a method of workcenter performance analisys using Earned Value Technique. These contribute a lot to the proposed system.Using this system, an enterprise can manage production activities effectively and can schedule the production reasonably; it can help to analyse the production procedure in order to find and diminish the constraints; finally it will help to cut down inventory and increase profit.
