Abstract


Urban rail transit is a product of urban development. With the rapid development of the country and highly motorized speed, automobiles especially cars step down from the symbol of luxury to common life requirements in big prosperous cities. The rapid growth in number of cars running on the road put much pressure on urban transportation. Thus, the "priority of public transportation" concept has been mentioned more and more, as its real manifestation, urban rail are built in the major cities to ease off traffic pressure. Guangzhou Metro is one of the most developed in our country, this study focus on its new rail transit projects.From the purpose of affecting the travel mode choice and reducing the traffic pressure on urban areas by urban rail transit, the dissertation firstly illustrates that the relationship between urban development and rail transport combined with the actual analysis of the relationship between travel behavior of residents; Secondly, the study of urban residents way to travel structure, differences in the way of city traffic classification, and travel through the analysis of urban residents to explain the psychological impact of urban travel mode choice of the relevant factors; then, with the logit model based on the theory established a logit model based on the new track transportation projects affect the model; Finally, based on the traffic survey of Guangzhou Metro Line extension, and the use of new mass transit projects affecting the model analyzing the survey data, but also with the relevant policies for the future of urban rail transport development proposals.The dissertation combines theoretical analysis and model analysis with empirical analysis. Through the establishment of model and data using SPSS software to fit the sample processing and analysis of new rail transit project on the surrounding residents travel mode structure of the main factors have been related findings. The conclusion from the perspective of urban development in Guangzhou City, the development of urban and rail transport provides a reference for the views.
