Abstract


In recent years, with the accelerated development of city, people pay more and more attention on traffic jam, especially during the rush hours. However, intersections work as the bottleneck of city road network. Therefore, improving traffic condition of intersections could enhance the traffic efficiency.Case-based reasoning has been applied in many fields, such as knowledge consultation and management, reservoirs flood dispatching and intelligent decision. Now it is also led into traffic accident disposition and traffic congestion management. This paper introduced case-based reasoning into signal control of single intersection. The major content is as follow:1. The intersection capacity model is proposed in according to characteristics of city traffic flow. The distribution of departure headway was statistically analyzed. And then the headway variation law with the vehicle position in a queue was obtained. Based on that, the revised capacity model of signal control intersection was proposed and model parameters was determined through field test data.2. Comparing all kinds of case knowledge representation methods, framework was chosen to represent traffic signal control case. The intersection signal control case was represented through intersection geometry characteristics, traffic property and control strategies. And then case and case database were established.3. In accordance with the characteristics of traffic control, knowledge-guided and nearest neighbor method were combined as the retrieval method. Similarity computational methods were analyzed based on different data types and each attribute was assigned corresponding weights. Finally, this paper demonstrated the validity of case-based reasoning applied in traffic signal control through actual example.
