Abstract

With the constantly increasing pressure of energy, more and more people found LED source is a new kind of low-power green illumination. Due to the requirements for the stability of the current, LED constant-current source has drawn the attention of both academia and industrial community. The thesis focuses on the researches of AC/DC power-driver chip design for white LED illumination. At first, the pre-standards of design are listed and then the design scheme and basic principle are given in the thesis. The emphasis of thesis is about to research the transient response and line regulation of LDO, temp characteristic and stability of bandgap reference and the design of protection circuit, PWM circuit insure the stable current output.Based on the researches of the AC/DC, a new type of LDO based on SANYO’s high-volts JFET and a self-bias cascode bandgap reference which diminishes the power-consumption effectively are designed. In the LDO circuit, JFET is set as high-resistance, the negative feedback consisted of pass transistor ( LDN12V NMOS ) and sampling resistance makes circuit stable and it has a current-protection circuit. Besides, Schmidt trigger is used in the temp protection circuit with two critical points, which makes the circuit more stable. The whole chip circuits are designed by in UMC BCD 0.6um CMOS standard CMOS technology, and all the simulation of separate modules and whole chip uses the synopsys’s hspice, the simulation shows that the power driver chip achieve the expected goal basically. Especially, The simulation showed that LDO can provide stable output and have a great frequency response; bandgap reference can provide temp-less volt-reference, both temp-protection and current-protection circuit can work well.
