Abstract


Video surveillance technology has been widely used in traffic, but now traffic monitoring system is based mainly on artificial TV monitoring method which is inefficient and real-time differential, so video-based traffic incident and parameters detection system receives considerable attention. This paper mainly studies application layer procedures, user monitor terminal software and communication network design of DSP embedded video traffic detection system.1) This paper uses CCS and VC++6.0 software as the development platform to develop a set of application programs and PC parameter setting software of DSP-based video traffic detection system. This system uses multi-threading technology in system application layer, so the picture acquisition thread, processing thread and communication thread can run synchronous to make sure of the image continuity and system real-time, and programs are modular structure organized, it increases the programs’flexibility and scalability. The PC parameter setting software uses bitmap format to display image data, this way is fast and image data can be easily operated.2) This paper studies on data communication network based on TCP/IP which connects the system application layer program with PC user-terminal software. There is a large amount of data in the communication of DSP detector and data management server, but small amount of data in the communication of DSP detector and PC parameter setting software, taking into account the communication needs and communication costs, this paper adopts TCP protocol in communication of DSP detector and data management server, and adopts UDP protocol between DSP detector and PC parameter setting software. So, it not only meets the needs of data transmission reliability and also saves network resource.3) This paper studies the gray statistics based background extraction algorithm and gray variation detection method of traffic conditions. Comprehensive use of gray scale statistics, FIR filter and the median, the background extraction algorithm can extract accurate and reliable background. Traffic conditions detection algorithm uses road gray variation to detect road condition, it saves computation and has little dependence on other algorithms module.Many experiments which are based on the video data of Shanghai Fuxing Road Tunnel, Zunchong Free Way and the Second South Ring Road of Xi’an show that the application programs and the user-terminal software is stable and reliable.
