Abstract

The interface characteristic of mechanical joints has the significant influence on the performance of mechanical system assembly. According to the statistics, about 40%~60% of the whole stiffness of mechanical system assembly come from the joints. So the research of stiffness characteristic of mechanical joints is extremely important. Sponsored by the National Science and Technology Major Project of“Hi-speed Horizontal Machining Center”, this paper does research about the modeling methods of stiffness characteristic of mechanical fixed joints. The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly, this paper summaries the common research of interface characteristic of mechanical joints, elaborates the feature of research methods at home and abroad. According to the shortages of existing research, determined the concrete goals and objectives of this paper.Secondly, combined the statistical laws of G-W contact model and the fractal characteristic of M-B contact model, this paper presented a paired contact geometric model of fixed joints. When the two contact rough surfaces have the same fractal dimension, this model is mono-fractal; when not the same, this model is bi-fractal.Thirdly, based on the paired contact geometric model of joints, analyzed the elastic-plastic deformation laws and the distribution of micro-spots to build the paired contact mechanical stiffness to build the paired contact mechanical model of joints. This mechanical model can predict the precise parameters of interfacial stiffness of joints. For the case of application of numerical analysis, a virtual material model is presented based on the strain energy method. Finally, considering the effects of stiffness characteristic of mechanical joints, the dynamic model of fixed bolt joints and fixed rail joints are carried by CATIA, SpaceClaim and ABAQUS. The experiments and tests confirm that related model presented by this paper is valid and correct.
