Abstract

As the continuing advancement of the people’s living standard and the gradual acceleration of the urbanization progress, the number of motorized vehicles in urban areas is growing rapidly. And the rapid increase in motorized vehicles would result in even bigger volume of commute travel in urban road networks, which poses a severe test for the urban road traffic systems. With the increasingly applications of the Complex System Theories to system sciences and engineering projects, researchers have already realized the complexity features of urban traffic systems. And this thesis, taking the complexity thoughts, discusses the interactional mechanism between urban static traffic and traffic flow in road networks. This article first introduces the basic framework of the Complex System Theories, analyses the classification of static traffic systems and parking behaviors based on the perspective of the Complex System Theories, explicitly points out the differences between matched parking lots and public parking lots and the complexity of parking behaviors, and expatiates the space-time interactional relationships of static traffic and dynamic traffic. Next, considering the differences of on-road parking lots and off-road parking lots, this essay analyses the connections between static traffic systems and urban road networks on five different levels: intersection, section, simple road network, regional road network and general network of urban road. In addition, according to the analysis of impacts of static traffic on road-network flow on different connecting levels, this thesis puts forward three models considering parking systems: capacity computing model for part sections considering the connection of parking lots and road networks, capacity computing model for regional networks considering the capacity of regional parking lots and capacity computing model for regional networks considering the configuration of regional parking facilities. Besides, this article analyses parking demand factors, concludes several widely applied models for parking demand forecast and is aware of their limitations, then according to these limitations to amend the parking demand forecast model based on road-network flow. After that, this thesis establishes several interactional relationships between urban static traffic systems and road-network flow: the game relationship between the location of road networks and static traffic, the game relationship between the location of road networks and road-network flow and the complex balance relationship between static traffic and road-network flow, and then based on Complex System Theories, conclusively sets forth the relationships between static traffic and road-network flow at macroscopic view and microscopic view and summarizes related enlightenments to the planning, construction and management of urban traffic and transportation systems. Finally, by combining what this thesis discusses, this thesis takes the Core Area of Huangshi City as an example to illustrate the relationship between static traffic and network flow and also puts forward some enlightenments to this city about its traffic situation.
