The most fragile people in society are suffering through imperceptible psychosis in the process of industrialization and urbanization. A majority of scholars hold that human civilization itself is the most definite bane to cause psychosis. It’s overstimulation of modern society that has negative effect on people’s mental state. At present, in China, the number of psychiatric patients is increasing rapidly, while the construction of psychiatric hospitals is still at an initial stage. This makes research and discussion in this dissertation to be of great practical significance.My dissertation is a preliminary probe into site selection and layout design for domestic psychiatric hospitals at present stage, with a case study on Jiangxi Province Psychiatric Hospital, some home and abroad relevant academic materials as references. Firstly, I research on the background and current situation of psychiatric hospitals in China and other countries; secondly, I make classified discussion on site selection according to all sorts of influencing factors. Layout design is the emphasis in this dissertation. Based on using foreign experience of developed countries such as Germany, Japan, America, etc, for reference, and comparing with Jiangxi Province Psychiatric Hospital, this dissertation is thirdly discussing parameters suited the concrete situation of psychiatric hospital in China, including the beds scale, the basic function formation, the flow system, etc.
