Abstract

With the continuous development of the Internet and multimedia technologies , video information more turned to the network transmission network streaming media technology came into being , and has made considerable development . However , the diversity of user requirements , the inherent characteristics of the network ( heterogeneity , bandwidth volatility and unreliability ) and video terminal heterogeneity limits the development of streaming media technology . The network bandwidth volatility decided streaming media server is difficult to provide real-time streaming media services for different customers . Video compression coding has not single -oriented storage , but also to adapt to the complex network environment , under the premise of ensuring high compression efficiency , requiring the video stream has a certain degree of scalability , and able to adapt to the volatility of the network bandwidth . Changes for this task , scalable video coding technology came into being . Scalable video coding technique requires the encoded video stream can be extracted by a simple operation , packet loss or truncated stream having different spatial resolution, temporal resolution and bit rate of the stream requires coding out rate having airspace three aspects of time domain and quality scalability . MPEG meeting in October 2004 , a preliminary decision to Germany HHI based on H.264 SVC (Scalable video code) reference code , and put forward a software reference model SVM . In January 2005 , the ISO 's MPEG and ITU-T VCEG agreed to unite the draft proposed SVC as an extensive set of H.264/AVC by the Joint Video Team (JVT) , included in the Appendix for H.264/AVC G, each JVT meeting around the SVC technology on the draft to be revised and improved . In this paper, on the basis of H.264/AVC based scalable video coding technology and network bandwidth measurement techniques , design and implementation of a network streaming system based on scalable video coding technology . The system can detect the current network bandwidth available , select a different quality layers and according to the current network conditions , the space layer , and time layer stream transmission to the client , in order to achieve the purpose of real-time playback of the full use of network bandwidth and client . In order to verify the correctness of the system to build the operating environment of the WAN , TC tool under Linux to change the function of the network bandwidth , and different network bandwidth , quality , spatial and temporal scalability were verified .
