Abstract

Now, few about the mechanism, process as well as dynamical mode during destruction of the North China Craton (NCC) are obtained and the destruction mechanism of the NCC is one of controversial problems and is still not solved. In order to obtain the destruction mechanism of the NCC, we present detailed structural analysis of the middle segment of Tan-Lu Fault and its adjacent Jiaolai Basin, western Shandong Province and Hefei Basin and collect compressional stress data from all these areas. In this work, we obtain 216 groups data of thrust fault and strike-slip fault in these areas. We utilize the computer program that programmed by the Southern Paris University to inverse the evolution of the compressional stress from the Early Cretaceous to the Neocene. Therefore, a conclusion can be drawn that there are pulsant compressional action happening since the Early Cretaceous. The direction of the compressional stress is NWW in the Early Cretaceous, EW in the late Cretaceous, NNE, S-N and NNW in the Paleocene and NW in the Neocene. Combining with the moving direction of the Pacific plate, we suggest that destruction of the NCC is mostly caused by the subduction of the Pacific plate beneath the Euro-Asia plate.
