Abstract


Gezhi xuzhi is a series of textbook adapted to primary and secondary students edited by John Fryer on the basis of translation of books and newspapers for many years, which plays an important role in publication history. The textbook provides with guiding function in the compilation of textbook in the late Qing Period. Gezhi xuzhi is appropriate to students and populace who intent to learn science without basis specially. Currently, scholars have not yet study this book professionally,this article discusses relational issues.Basing on history of Science and history of Education and history of Science and Technology Communication,this article discusses three sets contents of Gezhi xuzhi,including of Chapters carding and comparing analysis methods. The main points of this article are as follows:1.Introduce period background conditions and Publishers detaily2.Sort Mechanics xuzhi, zhongxue xuzhi, Electricity xuzhi of Gezhixuzhi, detailing the type of pole, axle and the practical application of axle, the basic concepts of mechanics, the basic principles of movement mechanical application. Electricity concepts relating to "Electrostatics"、" Electric current and electrochemistry"、" Light effect and Thermal effect of Current "、"electromagnetic" .this article analyze theoretical aspects and characteristics Introduce Electricity xuzhi the content and features in Practical Technology.3.Compared writings and translation of same Field and period. Analyzing and evaluating the translation method and the translating rules of terms and concepts on the three Mechanics xuzhi, zhongxue xuzhi, Electricity xuzhi. Combined with the translating rules in late Qing Dynasty. Pointed out Demonstration and Reference fuction in the field of textbook. At the same time some shortcomings and deficiencies also be enumerated.4.Analyze Gezhi xuzhi influence in Primary and Secondary Education after Publication
