First video compression coding standard H.264/AVC as well as multi-core computing platform architecture of the GPU core for video compression algorithms , such as predictive coding (including intra prediction , on the basis of this study , the inter-frame motion estimation ) parallel and parallel execution of the best processes , transform coding and entropy coding to conduct an in-depth study and analysis of various algorithms designed and implemented CUDA platform - based video compression parallel algorithms ( such as predictive coding parallel algorithm parallel algorithms , transform coding , CAVLC entropy encoding parallel algorithm ) , and compared with the traditional serial algorithm . The experimental results show that the use of multicore computing platforms can significantly improve the H.264/AVC encoding speed . Very high full search motion estimation for the compute-intensive speedup has reached more than 160 times ; and branch intensive processes , such as intra prediction , the rapid motion estimation and CAVLC entropy coding speedup were only 9 times , 3 times and 3 times . This is due to the the GPU more suitable for large-scale data processing calculation -intensive , simple logic branch parallel computing , which will greatly affect the execution performance of the GPU branch to determine and control flow statements . However, a large number of threads to achieve large-scale data parallel enough to compensate for the impact of the branch operation So , for branch -intensive process of multi-core computing platform can still get good acceleration performance .
