Abstract

Diesel particulate filter (DPF) is the most effective method to reduce the emission of diesel engine particles thoroughly. The regeneration of DPF is the key technology and a bottle-neck that limited the DPF widely used. Microwave heating for soot filter regeneration offers many advantages, such as the rapid heating and the possibility of more uniform filter heating, the rapid and precise control of the carbon bed temperature, a more compact furnace, and energy savings. In addition, microwave heating can result in lower soot combustion temperatures than realized by other Heating techniques. However, taking into account the power of car battery is limited for the microwave regeneration in practical use. So that, the implementation of the technologies is extremely difficult. In this paper, a new rotary unit-block diesel particulate filter(DPF) was developed. There are several unit blocks which with fan-shaped cross-section in the filter. These blocks are arranged in a circle and axial rotation during regeneration with microwave. The mechanism of the rotary unit-block DPF on the filtration and regeneration were analyzed and the filtration efficiency, the pressure drop characteristic were compared with the traditional overall body filter. At last, this paper studied the filtration mechanism of ceramic foam。(1)The structure of particulate filter, the microwave power source system and the rotary motion control system were designed in this paper.(2)Studied the filtration mechanism of ceramic foam as well as the non-linear filtering characteristics of air flow in filter.(3)This paper established corresponding equations of the flow governing and the pressure loss and used the FLUENT software made Simulation of the velocity field distribution rules in order to provide a basis for optimal design.(4)Established the microwave regeneration mode of ceramic foam. The effect of the particle deposition, the flow characteristics, the filter parameters on the regeneration were analized.
