Has no single-mode transmission and dispersion adjustable , high nonlinearity , high birefringence photonic crystal fiber characteristics , since 1992 , P. St. J. Russell et al , because of its unique optical properties by great concern , and welcoming from the surge of research photonic crystal fiber craze . Get the flexibility to design the structure of the photonic crystal fiber with high birefringence photonic crystal fiber , in recent years, based on the research and application of photonic crystal fiber birefringence has become a hot spot . This paper presents a new side hole photonic crystal fiber . Hole photonic crystal fiber raised edge by using full - vector finite element method , the mode field simulation combined with Matlab to do the post-processing of the data , so as to pass this edge photonic crystal fiber birefringence and when there is a static pressure of the liquid , the the the birefringence characteristics when lateral pressure with structural parameters , the free space wavelength of the change in relationship . Numerical results show that the greater the side hole away from the core region of the closer , the static pressure of the liquid , the lateral pressure greater sensor sensitivity ; the smaller the wavelength of the free space within the measuring range , the polarization phase of the static liquid pressure and the horizontal pressure the greater the sensitivity ; the temperature sensitivity of the polarization phase is very small, little effect on the pressure-sensing . In the optimized structure , λ = 1.55μm when the phase mode birefringence of 30 B = 2.931 × 10 ? , The static pressure of the liquid the polarization phase sensitivity the K 99.072rad / (MPa m ) P = ? × , the unit length of the lateral pressure on the The polarization phase sensitivity K 177.96rad / (N / cm m ) f = x ( placed on the lower hole ) , K 177.55rad / ( n / cm m ) f = ? × ( the left and right side hole placed) . Finally, the sensing system based on polarization interference principle was introduced , proposed the side hole photonic crystal fiber used in the static liquid pressure sensing system , the lateral pressure sensing performance . The results show that this side pass high birefringence photonic crystal fiber static liquid pressure and lateral pressure higher sensing performance , very suitable for use as a pressure sensing element .
