Abstract

Land use / land cover change (LUCC) resources are occupied and environmental change affect sustainable human development through interactive balance between population, resources, environment and economic development. Economic development in the past 30 years of reform and opening up, China as the world's attention, however, rapid urbanization and industrialization process of land resources, especially the reduction of arable land resources are shaking the foundation of sustainable development. Nearly 30 years, with the rapid development of the national economic construction, the Chengdu area and surrounding towns have undergone a huge change, rapid economic and social development has led to a dramatic increase in demand for natural resources, urban development is faced with a huge population, resources environmental pressures, led to a worsening of the relationship between people and land conflicts, seriously restricting the sustainable development of society. Chengdu, the characteristics of the land use change and reasons for the changes analyzed to determine whether Chengdu development within the carrying capacity of the ecosystem, integrated decision-making has to regulate urban land use, ease the contradiction between people and land, the development of the regional environment and development of crucial importance. This article will take advantage of Chengdu in 1978, 1992, 2000 and 2009, a total of four remote sensing images, image processing and interpretation of remote sensing, GIS and statistical analysis techniques, the central city of Chengdu, the land use information extraction and land use change monitoring, analysis Chengdu characteristics of land-use change in the past 30 years. The same time, on the basis of analysis the Chengdu, land-use change driven mechanism, the mainstream method of evaluation of ecological security - ecological footprint method to analyze the development of Chengdu within the carrying capacity of natural ecosystems, whether sustainable development. The research results achieved in this paper the following main points: (1) Chengdu 1978-2009 between land use information was obtained, the establishment of the different periods of land use spatial database. (2) through four data comparison analysis, found that land use change in different periods with different characteristics of the change. In general, a large number of construction land area in Chengdu increased, doubling of the central city area, a significant reduction in arable land. (3) the natural state of the environment in Chengdu, as well as national policy factors, population and economic growth factors together Chengdu, land-use change has a profound impact, is the main driving force for 30 years of land use change in Chengdu. (4) the use of ecological footprinting Chengdu nearly 30 years built urban ecological footprint calculation and comparative analysis of the Chengdu built urban ecological footprint upward trend. 2000-2009 stage, Chengdu built urban ecological footprint 1978-1992,1992-2000,2000-2009 several stages in the fastest growth rate. Expand the analysis of the characteristics of land-use change in the past 30 years, the driving force mechanism and sustainable development capacity in Chengdu. Chengdu as the mega-cities of the southwest region, its land use change existing characteristics another commonality of rapid urbanization. This study has important implications for the norms of urban land use, ease the contradiction between people and land, and the development of land use and protection policies.
