Abstract

Current conventional laser ablation of the sample chamber and the plasma mass spectrometry method of connecting a plastic tube of a diameter of approximately 3mm laser ablation aerosol formed by mixing of the sample with a carrier gas directly supplied to the torch of the ICP-MS, by plasma body mass spectrometer to determine the exact content of the sample elements (isotopes). Because currently used 193um laser the denuded pulse frequency is typically 10Hz, fast signal acquisition rate and ICP-MS, sample analysis standard deviation RSD (relative standard deviation) larger, usually close to 10%. Consider whether the sample can be uniformly delivered by the laser sample chamber plasma mass spectrometer torch influence key sample analysis data accuracy, the study design to add an external utensils between LA and ICP-MS makes LA denudation aerosol appropriate volume of accumulated and then fed into the ICP-MS, the upcoming LA denudation samples into approximate continuous feed like mode to the delivery of the ICP-MS. The different volume spherical and cylindrical glass mixed sample containers at the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), laser plasma mass spectrometry laboratory online experiment, and do not add mixed sample containers and mixed sample containers loaded on standard sample (NIST 610) between New Wave 193um laser and Agilent 7500a quadrupole plasma mass spectrometer test results, such as light, medium, heavy quality representative elements RSD CPS value (count value of the signal strength) plasma mass diagram form systems analysis and comprehensive evaluation of the pros and cons of different shape and volume mix utensils. The present study to determine the diameter 30mm, height 40mm cylinder mixed sample containers with good performance, and enables the sample analytical standard deviation (RSD) of synthetic International Sample NIST610 stable up to about 5%, and the process of sample analysis of ICP-MS acceptance signal faster, and higher detection sensitivity. Use of the optimized instrument performance by loading the mixed sample containers China University of Geosciences (Beijing) the laser plasma mass spectrometry laboratories LA-ICP-MS, of the Bachu mazartag alkaline mafic igneous complex gabbro diorite Rock magmatic zircon and Xinjiang Yushugou granulite facies metamorphism the ophiolite terrane typical two-pyroxene, garnet granulite metamorphic zircon punctate and linear erosion sampling two sets of U-Pb age test results contrast display loaded 30mm, high 40mm cylindrical mixed utensils, dotted and linear erosion sampling test results consistent within error, and Yushugou metamorphic metamorphic zircon SHRIMP zircon test results with previous samples U-Pb dating of consistent results are also error range. Preliminary studies indicate that the use of a the loaded mixed sample containers to optimize LA-ICP-MS, linear shallow erosion sampling zircon U-Pb age and trace element abundance determination of this test method will effectively expand the LA-ICP- MS in Earth Science the fine research applications, especially important metamorphic zircon U-Pb age and trace element abundance determination.
