Abstract


As an important component of security systems, intelligent access control could not only help to ease the passage and improve security, but also to supervise the attendance of both employee and security staff, with its unique identification characteristics. This paper takes the advantage of the newest research and application results, and takes Dongguan-HUST manufacturing institute as research object, aiming to design and realize an access control and management system based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.To consider both speed and cost requirements, a 2-level control mode is proposed, which uses RS485 to connect door controllers, and the Ethernet to realize network.In face of the existing projects that only get the ID number and lack security measures, a 3-time authentication method is proposed in the design and realization of the reader. Meanwhile, the type of electronic label is selected, and the choice of controllers and locks is also conducted, followed with the workflow design of access controllers.The user’s interface is designed according to the waterfall model, and the whole system is realized in VC 2005 platform using C# language. Moreover, the database is built on SQL Server 2000 according to TNF.Finally, a distributed RFID access control system is realized based on the research work, and the function test as well as performance test is conducted. It is proved that the proposal has saved about 30% compared with pure Ethernet mode, cutting off the cost of special attendance hardware and human safeguard, and has been proved to work steadily in real application with improved reliability.
