Abstract
|
In recent years, with the maturity of Next Generation Wireless Network (NGWN) technologies, there are quite a few references on the research of EUTRAN network simulation platforms. Most of them are designed based on Matlab or some independent discrete event system platforms. The independence and poor code reuseability make them difficult to use and be further deveploped. Considering the matured architecture and abundant class library of NS2 due to decades of development, to build EUTRAN simulation platform under NS2 environment can substantially reduce the development time period and enhance the code reuseability.Emphasis is palced on the functional design of access stratum (AS) of simulation platform, including the physical channel modeling, MAC-layer radio resource scheduling algorithm and RLC link adaptation. While keeping the integrity of simulation functionalities, attention is paid to the simulation efficiency and necessary interfaces reservation for ease of the subsequent development.First of all, according to 3GPP standards, an overview is given of ETRAN system characteristics, network architecture, and the structure and functions of AS protocol stack. Then an introduction is provided to the current status, design methodology and principles of EUTRAN simulation platform. With the requirements in mind, an EUTRAN AS simulation system structure is proposed together with its detailed software implementation. Furthermore the mathematic modeling of EUTRAN AS is detailed, including the estimation of channel fading, AMC model, several traditional radio resource scheduling algorithms, and an author proposed modified JS-B algorithm. Finally, the designed simulation platform is verified using these algorithms to provide the performance analysis of cell overlap, base station throuthput and jitter as well as the memory consumption analysis of the platform.
