Abstract

With the continuous improvement of people's living standard, more and more attention to health problems. Today, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have become increasingly common disease caused by it, such as myocardial infarction, arteriosclerosis, has become a life-threatening illness. However, with the development of modern medical technology, especially related to the development of diagnostic techniques, such as ultrasound imaging diagnostic, X-ray imaging techniques, CT technology related symptoms provide good protection for our early discovery. Ultrasound imaging technology has become a popular diagnostic technology that can diagnose a variety of diseases, such as maternity, cardiovascular disease. It can provide the details of the human body organ imaging and soft tissue structures. Compared with X-ray imaging, ultrasound imaging has the advantages of non-invasive, portable, multi-function, but does not produce any harmful radiation. Therefore, ultrasound imaging is often superior to other medical imaging diagnosis. Vascular intima-media thickness (IMT) measurement is an important medical diagnostic technology, it is often used in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. IMT defined as the distance from the edge of the edge of the carotid arterial lumen intima and adventitia, is now widely used in clinical practice, and to determine the occurrence of vascular disease by abnormal changes through measurement of IMT. But this also requires radiologists must have sufficient experience to extract a lot of information about the image of the carotid artery, and be able to estimate the potential exceptions. May be due to the different doctors experience different diagnostic results, and thus artificial edge segmentation difficult to get the use and expansion. Therefore, an efficient method of automatic detection of carotid intimal become necessary. This article first proposed a medical ultrasound images of carotid artery intima-media thickness detection and measurement solutions, including the detection part including adaptive gray stretch, the gradient transform and watershed segmentation. The main function of this part is used to extract the IMT boundary extraction and region segmentation. Proposed a new approach to the measurement section, including regional positioning and curve fitting for the accurate measurement of the results. However, although this method in dealing with the general vascular ultrasound image has certain advantages and computing speed, but for some of the poor quality of the image, you need a more accurate extraction algorithm. Given the great success obtained by the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) in the one-dimensional signal processing, domestic and foreign scholars have sent it extended to two-dimensional, two-dimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) method, and applied to two-dimensional signal processing, and achieved good results. On this basis, the two-dimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) method is applied to the the medical images carotid intima extract, the method has achieved good results. This is also the first attempt EMD theory IMT extraction. Finally, a comparative analysis for this paper, two different types of vascular intima-media thickness IMT measurement algorithm.
