Abstract

Pump jet propulsor (PJP), which was developed in the past several years, is a new propulsor with high propulsion efficiency, high critical velocity and low radiated noise. More and more PJPs are applied on underwater vehicles because of these benefits, especially on nuclear-powered submarine and torpedoes ofhigh speed. Performance research of PJP is necessary under these trend. With the development of CFD theory and numerical technology, here comes an important research tool for performance prediction of PJPs. Fluent code is carried out for steady and unsteady performance prediction in this thesis.Firstly, steady performance prediction of DTMB P4119 propeller, Ka4-5512+No.19A and Ka4-7008+JD7704 ducted propeller has been completed with MRF method. CFD numerical and grid generation methods have been verified by comparison between numerical and test results.Secondly, mixing plane method is executed to predict the steady and quasi-steady performance of podded propeller. Accuracy and reliability of CFD technology was tested by present calculation and test results comparison. Therefore, interaction between propeller and pod as the same as the propeller performance variation has been researched by quasi-steady prediction with mixing plane. And hydrodynamical performance of PJP with pre-swirl stators has been also predicted and analyzed by mixing plane. On the foundation of accurate numerical results, principle of stator parameters affection for the whole propulsor is analyzed. At last, sliding mesh method is utilized to research the turbulence characteristic and unsteady performance of PJPs with pre-swirl stators. Theoretical formulations on relationship between unsteady alternating frequencies and blades amount are derived. Both theoretical and numerical results show that steady hydrodynamical performance and unsteady interaction force frequencies with stator and rotator parameters have direct relationship.
