Abstract

Activated carbon fiber is the third generation of activated carbon material developed in recent years , compared with traditional granular activated carbon products obvious advantages , has been widely used in industrial production . Activated carbon fiber cloth was developed on the basis of the activated carbon fiber derivatives . With the development of chemical fiber industry , the main three substrate materials used in the production of activated carbon fiber cloth , ie, polyacrylonitrile , rayon , and asphalt , and their prices are more expensive . Production of activated carbon fiber cloth is the first fiber raw materials opener , carding , acupuncture made ??of felt , then pretreatment , carbonization activation preparation of activated carbon fiber cloth , its preparation process more complicated and tedious . Therefore optimize charring activation process and reduce the cost of raw materials become activated carbon fiber cloth developed key . In this paper , waste cotton , waste cotton yarn two fiber cloth as raw materials , respectively, using phosphoric acid , zinc chloride and potassium hydroxide as activator , direct the charring activation preparation of waste fiber based activated carbon fiber cloth . Adsorption amount of activation rate and apparent strength evaluation shows that , in the two kinds of waste organic fiber raw materials , waste cotton cloth activated carbon fiber cloth suck iodine value is slightly lower than the cotton -based activated carbon fiber cloth , but the yield strength higher than cotton yarn base . Waste cotton better than the raw material for the preparation of activated carbon fiber cloth used gauze . The waste cotton explore the optimum conditions of each of the three activators . H3PO4 law best conditions for the activator concentration of 40% , the activation temperature of 600 ° C , activation time 100 min ; the ZnCl2 law best conditions for the activator concentration 30% activation temperature of 550 ° C , time 100 min ; KOH law conditions for the activator concentration of 20% , the activation temperature of 850 ° C , and the activation time of 60 min . For a comprehensive evaluation of the amount of waste cotton by adsorption , activation rate and apparent strength in the the three activation process , ZnCl2 prepared activated carbon fiber cloth is superior to of H3PO4 law and KOH method .
