Abstract

Nowadays, wind and solar hybrid power generation has an important meaning for solving world’s serious resource depletion and environmental pollution. As renewable energy, wind and solar power have good performance of complementarity. Compared with separate photovoltaic or wind power, it can effectively enhance the system’s ability of adaption when weather changes, so that the system can gain better output characteristics. As a result, solar and wind power hybrid generation can guarantee the supply reliability of power generation systems and reduce the cost. It is necessary to establish wind and solar simulation, if we want to research this power generation system and design proper MPPT controller and matching inverter. The major aspects done are as follows:a) In order to study wind and solar power generation technologies under laboratory conditions, DC motor and tungsten are used focusing on the output power characteristics of wind and solar power.b) A combination of Boost & Buck as DC /DC circuit is promoted and typical algorithms are discussed, finally a MPPT controller is designed.c) To meet the special requirements of small wind/solar hybrid generation system, this paper introduces a two-stage inverter system, the former stage adopts isolation full bridge DC/DC boost converter with an energy recovery system, the latter stage adopts full bridge inverter, and its topology, control principle and realization are discussed in detail.Under the theoretical analysis, an experimental platform of wind and solar inverter is developed, and passed the acceptance of Xinjiang University. It is currently running well. This power generation system can provide a complete solution for laboratory studies, the development of suitable MPPT controls and inverters, or doing teaching experiments.
