Abstract

In Los Angeles Olympic Games, Chinese wrestlers got the forth place in both free style and Greco-roman style. After that, Chinese Greco-roman wrestler got three bronze medals in three continuous Olympic Games and a silver medal in Beijing Olympic Games. In addition, Chinese wrestlers have gotten two gold medals and one silver medal in women wrestling after women wrestling came into Olympics Games in 2004. However, Chinese free-style wrestling never made further achievements during the past more than 20 years. In Beijing Olympic Games, our free-style wrestlers even did not get into the top eight.In this paper, standing offensive technology is divided into three phases as fighting for locations phase and using locations phase and continuous development phase and we analyzed the manipulation of technology in fighting for locations phase and continuous development phase. On the basis of this, the manipulation of technology in Beijing Olympic Games would be contrasted with that in the 11th National Games of P.R. China by the method of observation and statistics and comparative analysis, which would be analyzed with the method of documentation and interview. It is to throw some new light for finding drawbacks of the aspect of technology of Chinese free-style wrestling and showing where the Chinese athletes was not as good as the top wrestlers in the world and helping Chinese wrestling get rid of the present trouble.The results of the study show the following characteristics:1. Standing wrestling which is being paid much attention to predominates in present free-style wrestling and has been a focal point of free-style wrestling.2. Crotch lifting predominates in all the offensive technology of free-style wrestling.3. In the present top free-style wrestling games, it displays on-the-ground technology appearing in standing stage.It revealed some gaps between Chinese athletes and the top athletes in the world as the following.1. Chinese athletes were used to keeping long distance with their opponents, especially when using crotch lifting.2. Chinese athletes are lack of the awareness of making use of opponents’habits, which limited the number of the technology of Chinese wrestlers.3. At a deadlock of crotch lifting, effect of changing technology is better than effect of holding on.4. Chinese free-style wrestling did not display on-the-ground technology appearing in standing stage.We made some suggestions as the following.1. Chinese athletes should be aware of keeping short distance with opponents when fighting for locations.2. Chinese coaches should pay more attention on training the consciousness of observing and utilizing opponents’ habits and ask Chinese athletes not to stick to only one pattern when they do some pre-action.3. Chinese coaches need to study the way of changing technology at a deadlock of crotch lifting to improve the abilities of Chinese athletes in offense and defense.4. In routine training, it is for leading Chinese athletes to reach on-the-ground technology appearing in standing stage that Chinese coaches and athletes should not stick to one pattern of the prerequisite of using on-the-ground technology.
