Abstract

The one-step process for producing fatty acid methyl ester (biodiesel) was investigated with a bifunctional catalyst, restaurant waste oil and acided oil being used as feedstock. The effect of acid value to the preparation of biodiesel was studied. Experimental results indicate that a feedstock of 100 acid value is a best for the production of fatty acid methyl ester. The experimental result of the intensifying techniques for producing biodiesel indicates that the adding of fatty acid methyl ester, adding modes of methanol, addition of NaCl and tower-reactor have a promotion to the esterification-alcoholysis reaction. The addition of solvent fatty acid methyl ester makes reaction time shorten 2h, a suitable additing amount is 10%wt; stepwise addition of methanol makes reaction time shorten 2h; addition of NaCl is favorable to separation of water; reaction process can be carried out continuously by use of tower-reactor.Catalytic properities of solid acid FeSO4 are lower than of the H2SO4, but it demonstrates some advantages in corrosive protection. The kinetics of the esterification-alcoholysis reaction was set up. The kinetics parameters for hydrolysis reaction is E a=79.64 kJ/mol,A =3.73×1010;The kinetics parameters for esterification are E a=48.88 kJ/mol,A =1.41×107.The calculational results from the kinetics equation are in accordance with the experimental results. The process concept design for producing biodiesel was made.
