Abstract


The idea of dominating nature is paradoxical, which is a source of both its advance and its retreat. To reveal inner contradictions of the paradox, its historical origin and evolution must be explored. It can be seen that in ancient mythology, religion world outlook and the Renaissance witchcraft. It is different representations from Bacon to Marx. The contradiction fully shows in the control study, nature and technology. Leiss put forward a new explanation of the idea of“dominating nature”on the basis of criticism“natural liberation”and“the harmony of human and nature”. He had been overcome the intrinsic contradiction.Leiss’the contradiction of dominating nature is objectively evaluated. It provides a basis for the development of ecology Marxist theory. It show ecology Marxist basic standpoint. It confirms to build up ecological civilization of guiding value of Marx’s nature. The ecological protection value of ethics and morality is highlights. It has positive significances that realizing the harmony between man and nature, constructing the harmonious society, realizing the sustainable development of economy and society and so on. But Leiss’thoughts have limitations, such as against the Marxist view of the social basic contradiction.
