Abstract


With the people’s increasing demand on advanced wireless communication technology, 3G mobile communication system, which has not yet been in commercial popularization completely, can not reach the requirement of users. Thus more and more people start to focus their researching on the next generation mobile communication technology, B3G (beyond 3G) or 4G. The WiMAX system based on IEEE 802.16e is the one that can support both the non-line of sight (NLOS) and mobile broadband wireless communications. It can meet the requirements of high transmission rates and mobility of the future wireless communications. On the other hand, smart antenna technology is an important part of the future communications because of its good ability to improve the communication quality, to increase the system capacity and to expand the cell coverage. In the WiMAX system, smart antenna, defined as Adaptive Antenna System (AAS), is supported as an optional part to improve the system performance. This work focused on implementing AAS in the downlink of WiMAX system now. The main work is as follows:Firstly,this dissertation the content on smart antenna in 802.16e,including the AAS frame structure and the important effect when MS is initializing access with the system.BS(Base Station) transmit it to MS that Downlink Frame Preamble (DLFP) including the information on initializing ranging with beamforming for increasing the signal energy.And this paper find a efficient way to detect the DLFP.Secondly,based on the DOA estimation method put forward by literature,this paper propose a new DOA estimation method that utilizes sounding sequence is particular for multi-user when SDMA (Space Division Multiple Access) is not used. And then based on the characteristics of WiMAX system,this paper analyse the characteristics between Pre-FFT beamforming and Post-FFT beamforming, and choose which the Downlink beamforming mode as the scheme of AAS in practice system.Finally, based on the practice WiMAX system,this paper design the AAS on software and hardware in the practice WiMAX system with above analysis and implementing.Especially aimimg at the in MAC layer on AAS designing and .some function achieving.
