Abstract


The Wei, Chin and the South and North Dynasties are full of schism, storm and stress in Chinese history, but it is an important period of advocating thought and spiritual freedom. During the period, Confucianism weakened while metaphysics gradually rose; Taoism and Buddhism developed quickly. The change of the philosophic thinking had an effect on the way of action and thinking, which made the contents and form of the traveling in these periods also changed greatly. The nature was no longer the object of comparing morality, but the spiritual trust of fighting with darkness and expressing feelings. The relationship between nature and people reached a high point where people and nature can live together harmoniously and closely. The words of“love Mountains and water”or“enjoy mountains and water”appeared in history books frequently. The traveling activities were most prosperous, besides with the development of Buddhism and Taoism, religious tourism activities gradually flourished. All these enriched the contents of tourism and strengthened speculation of tourism. This passage will explore the tourism activities in this period in five parts.The first part will introduce the development of tourism activities before the Wei, Chin and the South and North Dynasties. The writer will divide the thesis into four parts according to the definition of tourism and the defining of tourism origin as well as descriptions of typical tourism activities. They are Primitive Society period, Xia , Shang, Zhou periods, Spring and Autumn Period, and Qin and Han PeriodThe second part analyzes the rising background of tourism activities from three parts. First of all, it was the political disturbances that led to the booming of hermit, which also made a puzzled relationship between the nature and people. Secondly, the change of philosophic thinking encouraged people to get close to the nature. Not only Taoism Buddhism but also metaphysics and philosophy were all above vulgarity. They had the same attitudes towards nature. In the end, with the improvement of production and tourism practice, the relationship between people and nature has transformed from a contrary one into a uniting one.The third part is the most important one in this thesis. According to standard of different people, it explores the tourism styles in this period. It makes a simple analysis about various kinds of tourism activities and causes and mainly introduces tourism activities of the kings, intellectuals, monks and common people.The fourth part researches this period’s tourism activities in a whole Chinese ancient tourism history, and analyses the changes and inheritance of tourism custom and thought in this period.The fifth part explores the important effects of tourism activities: on the one hand, it promoted Chinese tourism resource to develop towards the south; on the other hand, it gave birth to many works about literature, artistry and handwriting.In the summary, the writer simply estimates the tourism activities of this period and thinks about what it brought to the modern tourism.
