Abstract

The Grammatical Metaphor is an important means of human understanding of the world, it can be converted to the events, activities, emotions, ideas entity (entity) (Lakoff Johnson, 1980). Halliday (1985) pointed out that the grammatical metaphor is not one word instead of another word to replace another grammatical category or grammatical structure, but with a grammatical category or grammatical structure. Therefore, grammatical metaphor is the objective existence of the phenomenon of language, and its role is to use the metaphor means a type of grammar or syntax into another type, which generates a new type of experience. As one of the focus of functional linguistics, grammatical metaphor concept over the years has been of concern, many scholars grammatical metaphor used in different types of discourse analysis, and draw a lot of convincing conclusion. To date, grammatical metaphor study involving almost to a variety of literary discourse and special purpose discourse (such as legal, news and Scientific Discourse), and grammatical metaphor phenomenon lyrics discourse analysis and research is extremely rare, especially A Comparative Study of English and Chinese Lyric Poetry grammatical metaphor is nearly blank. The lyrics are the essence of poetry is the essence of literature for. Unique view of lyric poetry literary value, the comparative study of the lyrics in English and Chinese, can appreciate the literary works in English and Chinese, and decipher the similarities and differences of the two languages ??and cultures to provide a new perspective. This study suggests that the type and distribution of the phenomenon of the English-Chinese lyric poem grammatical metaphor has its similarities, there are significant differences, and the causes of both English and Chinese way of thinking, lyrical imagery, the lyric language features, discourse convergence demand from either the source. Although the study involved only Grammatical Metaphor in the lyric genre, there are some limitations to believe that the results of this study on the comparative study of English and Chinese have a certain inspiration. On the other hand, due to Grammatical Metaphor is the advanced stage of language use, this study will also English teaching the some useful inspiration: teachers introduction of the concept of grammatical metaphor teaching of English poetry, not only to help students from a new perspective analysis, appreciation poetry, and the ability to create their language and culture of rational critical thinking skills and the ability to understand Western culture will not benefit. This article when the right to start a discussion as to attract more scholars to in-depth study and explore the valuable grammatical metaphor.
