Abstract


Examination-oriented education in a long time by the deep-rooted, our current primary school English teaching is still indoctrination teaching and passive learning, low student motivation. English teaching is not only to impart knowledge of grammar and, more importantly, to develop students' interpersonal skills, and help them achieve a successful language output. Therefore, in the teaching of English, how to stimulate students 'motivation to maintain the students' interest is an urgent need to address the problem. ARCS Motivational Design mode with the new curriculum advocated \self-confidence; S (Satisfaction) satisfaction. It is used to explain the different levels of the different learner motivation will produce different learning outcomes. Teachers in the teaching process, the purpose of the creation of the scene closely with students or atmosphere, causing students to activate students 'thinking, help students understand the significance of knowledge to construct, develop students' problem-solving skills, and problem-solving process to establish learning confidence, experience the satisfaction of success in learning, the development of students' innovative thinking. Characteristics combined with English teaching and teachers teaching experience, this paper mainly studies the ARCS model primary school English teaching theory and application strategy, the purpose is to determine whether this mode can effectively improve the pupils' learning motivation and academic performance. Study according to the quasi-experimental design, parallel with four third grade classes as a research object, two experimental classes (experimental group), two control classes (control group). Research using questionnaires, interviews, and test combination. Questionnaire using the Lecter five demerit points (Likert-scale) through social science statistical package SPSS17.0 descriptive statistics, with paired samples T-test and independent samples T-test method, whether it occurred through pre-and post-sample of the questionnaire score significantly ARCS motivation sex change, and the experimental class and the control class differences to determine the effectiveness of teaching mode. And then use the same statistical methods to determine the motive teaching model to improve the effect of learner achievement test. To keep abreast of the students through after-school interviews, like the teaching strategies used in the classroom, in order to adjust teaching strategies. The survey results confirm each other, students receiving motivational teaching strategies significantly higher enthusiasm in learning English, and academic performance improved significantly. Although the experimental range of small, time limitations, the study still prove: the the ARCS motivation teaching mode in promoting the enthusiasm of students, improve English learning achievement indeed effective.
