Abstract


With the deepening and development of world regional economic cooperation and the overall start of China-Asean free trade area, Guangxi and Vietnam are currently active in economic development in Asia-Percific area as the front regions of economic cooperation between China and Asean, especially the bilateral trade development has been the focus. In the bilateral trade between Guangxi and Vietnam, border trade is dominated and the scale of general trade is comparatively small. But with the tariff cuts of CAFTA, the bilateral trade between Guangxi and Vietnam will be certainly affected.This paper mainly adopts the combining methords of theorical and empirical analysis to compare the current development and features of general trade and border trade between Guangxi and Vietnam, and find the general trade is taking place of border trade but it’s not very obvious presently which is probably caused by the current transitional period of WTO rules and CAFTA policies. But with the further implementation of related rules and polices,the border trade will be progressively taken place by general trade due to the lost of policy advantage. Besides, to put forward some more efficient comprehensive development countermeasures for general trade, border trade and economic development of border area, I have profoundly analyzed the influencing factors of general trade and border trade respectively and find that their factors are similar, which both include the economic development level and scale, foreign direct investment and income.In summary, according to the empirical result based on the grey relevance degree, Guangxi should increase the volume of FDI inflows and rationally guide the flow direction. Meanwhile, Guangxi enterprises should actively develop the international market, combine the resources advantage and join the international competition.Besides, in view of the revealing trend of general trade taking place of border trade, Guangxi should temporarily ensure the stablity of border trade policy and foster the dominated industries of border area and meanwhile positively promote the construction of cross-border economic cooperation zone between Guangxi and Vietnam.
