Abstract

Basketball has developed in China for more than one hundred years and it is a popular sport among Chinese people. Because of its functions such as education and interest as well as playing simply, basketball often carrys on in government departments at all levels with a planned and organized way. It is valuable for questing progress and discipline of basketball development, conclude experience and lessons even promote sustainable development of basketball through the research that basketball develops in some areas.In order to boost basketball in Kaifeng, we can restart the glory of basketball in Kaifeng. Visiting and investigating on the ever emerging or still active celebrities in the basketball field in Kaifeng by collecting historical data. We can understand the influence of basketball development in Kaifeng to basketball of Henan Province via summing up and arranging the history of basketball in Kaifeng. As a result, it can provide theoretic and practical evidence for Henan province to transform from culture big province to culture strong province.The thesis prefers the typical Kaifeng sport game—basketball from a historical perspective with the method of literature, the field research and logic analysis and so on. The thesis investigates and analyzes the process of basketball in Kaifeng systematically and in the end obtains the following conclusion.1.Kaifeng City is the first area of Henan Province that basketball enters. There had been a glorious history of basketball in Kaifeng and it is the birthland of basketball in Henan province. 2.Non-governmental organizations is an important driving force for the game of early basketball in Kaifeng. After the new China was founded, basketball was lack of vitality as a major form of basketball activities under government leadership.3.The development of basketball in Kaifeng has made an important impact to the basketball culture, tactics development, competition level, personnel training, research and other aspects of Henan province and the country.4.the main factors that influence basketball development in Kaifeng are that the overall economic level is low,the potential of the school basketball has not been fully explored.Additionally,there is a discussion issue that the problem of basketball entering Kaifeng. Basketball was introduced to China in 1895, while the existing data records that basketball entered in Kaifeng was 1911. Therefore, it still needs to reach further study that whether basketball activity carried on in Kaifeng during 1985—1911.
