Abstract


Chinese publishing industry was affected by system for a long time. The Publishing Houses in China enjoy a series of preferential policies, such as: tax, etc. Because of the particularity of its products, Publishing House has formed a relatively extensive management mode in uncompetitive environments. The environments of delay of delivery were appeared constantly. But this problem is often neglected. With the marketization of publishing has increased year by year, the profit has gradually declined. At the same time because of missing sales of opportunity, delaying of delivery and returning by bookstores, Publishing Houses have lost a lot. The consequences of neglecting the book publication schedule control have emerged gradually.Introducing new management theory in Publishing Houses, using fine, the scientific management method is the key in the new situation of the development. At present, in the western countries the project management theory was applied in book publication, and achieved great success. In our country the research of this aspect is still at the beginning stage. Academic researches in China focus on the project management of necessity, feasibility, importance, etc. But the study about the application book publishing of project management is very little.The Hymns of Sheng Jing Publishing Project is a branch of project of Shenyang Subway Construction. Compared to other projects, the time of The Hymns of Sheng Jing Publishing Project is short; the craft requirement is high; Publishing House are lack of similar book publishing experience; and ability factories are few. In order to control the publishing project progress effectively, the Publishing House take the following methods:First, to explicit the overall goals and principles of publishing projects. The overall objective of publishing project is that the 5000 books will be send to Shenyang Subway Construction Headquarters before August 5, 2011. First principle is to complete this project on time. Second principle is to ensure the quality of books. The Hymns of Sheng Jing represents the important symbols of technological and cultural history and city image. Regardless of its content and publishing quality will not be any problems.Second, to establish triple constraint of a project. The Hymns of Sheng Jing is a time leading project, and leading constraint is time. The mainly problems are concentrated in the publishing schedule. Whether to finish the publishing task is crucial to the success of the project.Third, to make good project plan. The project team confirms project milestones events according to the progress of the book. Namely: the manuscripts are up to standards of publishing; the manuscripts meet printing requirements; the book is finished on time. The project team divides to three parts: editing, pre-publishing design, printing and binding. The plan is divided into: collect information, project decomposition, job description, estimating time limit, arrange schedule, and outputs results.Fourth, to control the schedule of project. In the process of project, the project team track project process continuously, compare s the differences of the schedule and actual schedule and analysis the affects, take effective measures timely, and update their schedule constantly.To sum up, the theory—“project planning and control”of project management are applied to the publishing project of The Hymns of Sheng Jing. In combination with the characteristics of book publishing project, make examples and detailed scheme of project planning, project planning control, projects update. The above methods will be implement the project, and will be influence the managing means of Publishing House.
