Abstract


With the rapid development of biotechnology , transgenic technology has been widely used in agricultural production, food processing industry , to help humanity solve the problem of food shortage has made tremendous contributions. But the international community for the safety of genetically modified products has been controversial , countries based on their respective interests differ in their attitudes . Currently in the field of international environmental law has absorbed a large number of treaties the precautionary principle , the principle is the result of environmental degradation for the lag and the characteristics of irreversibility raised . With the public health and the growing importance of sustainable development , the emergence of the principles of international economic law into the field of view. Attitudes in various countries , the EU out of the need to protect public health and the prevention of biotechnology products on public health risks that may exist in the regulation of genetically modified foods vigorously advocate the precautionary principle . The United States is the world's first transgenic crops, but also the world 's largest biotech crop area countries , the United States stands for the \damage to the environment , genetically modified products are safe, therefore , strongly opposed to the precautionary principle applied to GMO trade . From the current WTO framework on agricultural products and foodstuffs trade agreements and other international law , mainly on the traditional trade products regulation, regulation of GM products in there a lot of blank areas , its flaws and so forth. As a large number of imported GM products and the approval of genetically modified staple food of China , under the existing trade management system and lawmakers to introduce the precautionary principle , both may also be necessary . Management system for genetically modified products in the country , there are still significant shortcomings , I believe that the precautionary principle should be introduced into our regulatory system for GMO trade in the past, and gradually improve China's relevant regulations.
