Abstract


Extensive application of virtualization technology triggered a virtualized environment performance analysis tools. Such as different virtual machine users need to know to run a program in the virtual machine performance issues in order to optimize application performance and runtime environment configuration. This procedure is required to analyze the performance analysis is based on a high performance hardware counter technique. It needs during program execution, the corresponding CPU events to analyze program performance statistics. Since the counter is a dedicated hardware registers, each CPU on a limited number of hardware counters. Thus, for hardware-based performance analysis tool counter, one can simultaneously analyze the CPU events is limited. Such as the current Xen virtual environment Xenoprof tool that allows multiple virtual machines simultaneously analyze the same CPU events, but not on a different virtual machine simultaneously analyze different events. Therefore, can not meet the multi-user virtual environments in different virtual machines simultaneously needs. Based on the above questions, you can use a hardware-based virtualization technology counters multiple virtual machine performance evaluation methods, which allow simultaneous analysis of different virtual machines different CPU events, and individual virtual machines between each other. Virtualization of hardware counters of each virtual machine to implement a hardware counter division multiplexing thus allows multiple virtual machines simultaneously and independently evaluating the type of event; order to reduce the cost of accuracy of the performance analysis, it will read the hardware counter write operation into the VMM (Virtual Machine Manager) time slices. Meanwhile, in the Xen VMM-level mechanism to get the CPU through the sampling event sampling information, and the information distributed to each virtual machine and the corresponding buffer, and finally to the virtual machine user-level analysis tools for analysis and processing, resulting in the corresponding The analysis results and detailed performance information. In this way, a plurality of virtual machines where the user will be able to review the CPU while events and other users do not feel the existence of the virtual environment so as to provide greater convenience of program analysis. From the test results can be seen in the function of the system can better meet demand, allowing multiple virtual machines simultaneously and independently of each other to evaluating different CPU events; Meanwhile, the performance also achieved good results , the test results of the system under the same conditions with Xenoprof test results comparing the performance of both the data obtained is roughly equal.
