Abstract

Content:Decision-making process is an important research orientation in psy- chology and researchers pay more and more attention to it recently. Options and their attributes are both essential components of decision-making tasks. There is no literature that considering the number of both options and attributes on the impact of decision making process .We collect the most valued factors in attractions selection by conduct ing a questionnaire survey in the pretest. The different types of decision task are as follows: 4 options 4 attributes, 4 options 8 attributes, 8 options 4 attributes, and 8 options 8 attributes.The two official researches were carried out by a self-programmed procedure guided by the technology of Information Display Board. We discussed the impact of the number of option and attribute on decision making process in the first experiment. In the second experiment, we created two varying degrees of time pressure to study the influence of time pressure and task type on decision making process. The results are as follows. Results of the pretest showed that the main factors of travel decision-making are the price,attractions type(such as nature and culture landscape),road distance, local characteristics, transportation convenience, the level of individual physical demands, popularity, the best tourism season.Results of the first research showed: (1)The number of option has an significant main effect on the Latency of search, which also has an edge significant interaction on search time with the number of attribute;(2)The number of option and attribute both have significant main effect on the Depth and the Pattern of search, but the interaction doesn’t reach the significant level;(3)According to Variability of search and Pattern of search, we found that regardless of facing which type of task the first strategy is conjunctive strategy, and the second is elimination-by-aspects. That is the subjects tend to adopt non-compensatory strategy, and the number of attribute has a significant main effect on Compensatory index; (4) The number of Option and attribute have a significant effect on Confidence index.Results of the second research showed: (1)Time pressure and task type both have significant main effect and interaction on Compensatory index、the Latency of search and the Pattern of search;(2)According to Variability of search and Pattern of search, we found that regardless of facing which type of task the first strategy is elimination-by-aspects, and the second is conjunctive strategy;(3)Time pressure has main effect on the pattern of search and confidence index, and the main effect of task type on confidence index is also reach the significant level.
