Abstract


As one of The Confucian classics, The Analects plays an important role in the history of academic research in China. It is always blooming in the academic fileds over two thousands years. There are a lot of new interpretation books about The Analects emerging in endlessly especially coming into the 21st Century, some views and arguments of the excellent books provides essential material for studying The Analects, the Confucius’thought, the Confucian school, etc. But at the same time, a quite part of works also came forth which ignore the historical facts to claim their own personal views by the power of Confucian classics. Just these works that make The Analects research walk to generalization. In recent years, the traditional Sinology prevailing prompts a new round of The Analects popular, and many books also rise which interpret the Analects from different angles based on the author’s own guess. One of results of this phenomena is that the study of the Analects deviating our traditional track. These books not only may cause people misreading but also hinder the normal development of academic research in some extent. Therefore, there are so many scholars have criticized and corrected present situation through writing academic papers and books. In this paper, the writer will in search of the true meanings of in rigorous scientific attitude following the methods of previous scholars.lun yu wo du by Lin Gongshun has a greater impact in the academic community since it had been published. The writer’s noted The Analects on the basis of his few decades research and own feelings in Confucianism. In this book, some research ideas and methods are worth learning by the younger generation, but there are some questionable conclusions which are also worth paying attention. For this reason, this paper does some research for correcting the questionable conclusion of Lun yu wo du. The book has four parts:the scriptures, the note, the interpretation and own feelings. So this paper has been written according to the four part and integrated the interpretation part into the discussion to the note part because the latter is the origin of the former. Besides, this paper didn’t comment the forth part of lun yu wo du since it is a kind of feeling and irrelative to the academic. In conclusion, the whole paper has divided into three sections which discussed the scriptures, the punctuation and the notes. In section one, the correction of the scriptures relies on the scriptures in Bamboo slips Analects and the popular copy such as lu yu ji jie yi shu (by Huang Kan), lun yu zhu shu(by Xing Bing). The paper reproves the scriptures by the contrast of these popular works about The Analects. In section two, the paper reproves the punctuation through the analysis of the context and the popular punctuation which were adopted by the previous scholars. In section three, the paper reproves the notes by the achievement of previous research. The only purpose of this paper is to make the research of The Analects return to academic track. With the advance of history, the true meaning of The Analects should be accepted as close as possible, instead of being covered with misinterpretation and imagination layer upon layer.
