Abstract


In the feudal society, women had been deemed as a kind of object, or an accessory relying on men. Especially under the influence of traditional culture based on confucianism, a series of harsh rules to restrain women was formed. Women has been oppressed at the bottom of society. In the time of the May Fouth Movement, women’s self-consciousness had been awaken, but lots of feudal thoughts still existed, women wanted to acquire liberty, but they can’t completely get rid of the bondage of Confucian gender notions.They had to disobey their willings, consciously followed orders of the man-oriented society. Confucian women notions has completely transformed them into a special group-"Confucian Women". This kind of women had never completely disappear in the process of women’s liberation in our country. Even today, there are many women imbalanced on self-consciousness to a certain extent,also became "Confucian women".The May Fouth Movement in China is the beginning of the women’s liberation movement,during which numerous outstanding writers emerged,specially described women. Zhang Ai-ling is the most unique one. She broke away from the thinking mode that made men and women opposites, with pure women subject as a visual angle, shaped various women image at the time of social transition, described the plenty of dietary men and women’s secular picture scroll.She has revealed the Confucian Women’s survival state and self bound fate with various images, showed the Confucian Women’s embarrassing and double identity of struggle and compromising.Zhang-Ailing’s every novel has been permeated in desolate, it is her values in life and is a natural outpouring of aesthetic style in her creation process.She likes describe Confucian Women’s sorrow fate with the contrast skill.not intensly, but it can form the perpetual simple truth and give the reader some indistinct enlightenment. This is the the most important aesthetic value of her novel. Therefore, this paper attempts to reread Zhang-Ailing ’s novels with aesthetic angle, to obtain the beauty experience from novel itself, and to seek some enlightenment for women’s social problems today and the positive development of the women ’s liberation from her desolate world.
